Purpose
This policy has been developed to provide clear direction to staff of the Health Professions Licensing Authority, members of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of the Northern Territory and intending registrants regarding the entitlement to register/enrol as a nurse or midwife in the Northern Territory.

Supporting policies
This policy should be considered in conjunction with the Health Professions Licensing Authority Registration Policy.

Who is entitled to apply to register/enrol/authorisation to practise as a nurse or midwife in the Northern Territory?
Section 22(a) Are eligible to apply
Registered Nurses and Midwives educated in Australia and New Zealand
1. Certified copy of nursing or midwifery qualification issued by an Australian or New Zealand School of Nursing or Midwifery;
2. For New Graduates – a letter sent directly to the Board by the Course co-ordinator attesting that the applicant has successfully completed all the course requirements and that the applicant has been assessed against the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council Competency Standards as a competent practitioner is acceptable in the first instance. The course transcript is to be forwarded to the Board as soon as it becomes available;
3. 100 points of identification; and
4. Certified copy of proof of name change (if applicable).
